Set Up Java Dev Environment

Introduction

This page explains the third-party tools you’ll need to write Java backend code.

JDK

Install a full Java JDK (version 17), such as:

install temurin

Only Java 17 is supported at this time.

IDE

Install one of the following integrated development environments:

install intellij

install eclipse
Figure 3. Or Eclipse IDE

Maven

Install the Apache Maven software project management tool:

Postman

Postman is an "API platform for building and using APIs". It’s a great way to make REST API calls against your KOS application’s backend code to test its functionality.
